The reviews are in and they couldn’t be better!
Review in CM Magazine (click to read the full review…)
“Keep Out! is truly a compelling story, with hints given throughout the book about who or what is causing the piping plovers’ eggs to be broken. Readers may be particularly interested in learning that the piping plover attempts to distract predators by pretending to have a broken wing. Keep Out! is especially recommended for emergent or reluctant readers, but it can be enjoyed by just about anyone.”
Review in The Chronicle Herald
“An excellent little mystery written in a fun, engaging, straightforward style makes Keep Out! a good choice for newer independent readers.”

What do you do when it’s the last day of summer vacation and it’s raining outside? Make a video with the chicklets, that’s what! And since many of you asked about my treadmill desk, I thought we’d do a quick how-to video so YOU TOO can start walking and writing in style…
The chicklets were great videographers and stylists. You may not see the butterfly clips in my hair but they’re there. Trust me. Enjoy, and feel free to ask questions in the comments!
Also, click on the ‘Walk and Write’ category tag in the title for more videos and info.

I know this is probably equivalent to having my mom review my book but chicklet (who is 9) worked hard ALL day, reading the ARC of REAL MERMAIDS DON’T WEAR TOE RINGS and would like to share her thoughts.
Chicklet’s review on
Real Mermaids Don’t Wear Toe Rings
AUTHOR: Mumma (HELENE BOUDREAU)
Part’s I liked: “Dad are you googling this?!?!?!”
Mumma wrote it and It is funny!!!
Parts I disliked: NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mumma helped me with this part… (from the back of the book):
FREAK OF NATURE TAKES ON A WHOLE NEW MEANING…
If she hadn’t been so clueless, she might have seen it coming. But really, who expects to get into a relaxing bathtub after a stressful day of shopping for tankinis and come out with scales and a tail?
Most. Embarassing. Moment. Ever.
Jade soon discovers she inherited her mermaid tendencies from her mom. But this revelation raises a serious question: if Mom was a mermaid, how did she drown?
Jade is determined to find out. But how does a plus-sized, aqua-phobic, mer-girl go about doing that, exactly? And how will Jade ever be able to explain her secret to her best friend Cori, and her crush, Luke?
This summer is about to get a lot more interesting…
Back to me…
OUT OF 10……11
’s Out of 10:
TOP OF THE GUST RED AND LOVED PILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And now my mumma said I need to go to bed…
And it’s SO purr-ty!
And I held it for all of three minutes before one of my chicklets got a hold of it.
And now, my little girl, who is on the verge of becoming a big girl, is upstairs in her PJs cuddled up in bed reading my book.
And that is just about the happiest feeling, ever.
