I’ve been bookwormed! Marsha even went one step further and harassed me by e-mail, so I guess I better comply.
Here’s what I’m supposed to do:
1) Open the closest book- not a favorite or most intellectual book- but the book closest at the moment, to page 56
2) Write out the fifth sentence, as well as two to five sentences following
3) tag five innocents [or more]
4)Julie takes it a step further and suggests doing the same for your manuscript
1): My girls are addicted to the DISH series by Diane Muldrow. They read it with DH every night and are up to Volume 12. I sometimes catch DH reading it on his own after the girls are in bed.
“What?” he says. “I read it for the recipes.”
But it’s nice to know that hubby is in touch with his middle-grade self.
2): And on page 56 it says:
“Ladies and gentlemen! In fifteen short minutes, we will be departing for Chestnut Farm, Vermont! In the next five minutes, you need to say good-bye to your parents and board the bus. We’ll be doing roll call on each bus. Okay?’
3): I’m not going to tag any innocents, but if you read this and end up doing it on your blog, let me know in the comments so I can visit!
4): Here’s the page 56 excerpt from my work-in-progress, BIG SPLASH:
What was that noise? That horrible noise? Demons from the underworld? Tortured feral cats? Wild, screaming banshees?
My hand finally found the phone. I pressed TALK.
“Hellumph?” I mumbled and rubbed my eyes.
“Hey, Jade!” It was Moe.
I sat up in bed and yawned.
So, that’s it. I feel well and truly bookwormed, thanks for including me, Marsha!
Have a wonderful and safe holiday, everyone!
I just got an e-mail from my publisher informing me that ACADIAN STAR has sold over 1,700 copies since its October release! Whee!
These are Canadian stats, so I’m more than a little thrilled. ACADIAN STAR will be released in the US in April.
My other three books are now out with Crabtree Publishing and I’ll soon be announcing details of my new early chapter book series, the first volume to be released Spring 2010.
It has been a very good year!
I can’t wait to see what 2009 brings. A pony, maybe?
